Further, in July 2020, Diageo plc declared the development of the world's
first-ever 100% plastic-free paper-based spirits bottle, which is produced
completely from sustainably sourced wood. The bottle will launch with Johnnie
Walker, a Scotch Whisky, in early 2021. Diageo introduced a new partnership
with a venture management company, Pilot Lite, to launch Pulpex Limited, a new
sustainable packaging technology firm. Pulpex Limited has formed a partner
association of major FMCG companies in non-competing categories such as
PepsiCo, Unilever, and with further partners to ensure that the technology can
be used in every area of life. Each association partners are estimated to
reveal their own branded paper bottles, which is based on the design and
technology of Pulpex Limited, in 2021.
